The M.W.F. Mt. Davis reported to me as follows on

the afternoon of the 10th instant.

"Sappers Hiscocks and Bolton, 25th Company R.B. were sent out tc Nt.Davie on the 5th Instant, in relief of other Sappers with- drawn. Being new to the place instead of turning up the mili- tary road to Mt. Davis, they went along Jubilee Road, a mile

or so beyond the above, and lost their way.

He asked They mota European and asked him to direct them. then into his house which was close by, and gave them a drink. He then opened a large scale map of the country in the vicinity

and showed them on it the military road up to Mount Davie.

On this map they state they saw the position of each Emplace- ment marked. He also showed them a map of Devils Mount Batt.

He asked them wheti very large scale (Devils Peak presumably).

on arrival. They reported as above to M.W.F.

I reported above to 0.E. during the afternoon of the 10th (G.0.0's visit), and he instructed me to report to you with a view to the Captain Superintendent of Police being communicated

with confidentially.

low", Jubilee Road, somewhere below the convent.
